What is the first step in getting this card close to 480 specs?

it does look right now, first step is to max out the voltage, then move your other settings up until furmark shows graphic errors or crashes or the temps get too high
(make sure you change your fan profile before overclocking)

Maxing out the voltage is the last thing you want to do...  Can easily burn a video card doing that.

I'd start by increasing the core clock 20MHz at a time and running FurMark or another benching app for ~15min.  Do that for each 20MHz until you bluescreen, freeze, or see artifacting, then increase the voltage by 30mv and try again.

Keep in mind you will eventually reach a point where no amount of voltage will help the stability, and will have to lower the clock back to where it last was stable.

exactly, overclock as far as you can without any voltages adjustment, some will overclock a long ways with little, to no voltage bump, also you should have more voltages to adjust also, do you have everything unlocked on MSI?
On the other hand MSI will only allow for small voltage gain, so even at max, it will be safe, you have to mod the BIOS like I did to get more voltage, and these cards love cold temps and high voltage.
I have never reached a point where more voltage wouldn't help, even running 1.5V to these cards they keep scaling, if you can keep the temps down.

Thanks Justin, I'll work on the overclocking today once the Cleveland Brown game is over.
How long should I run each increase with Kombuster? 10 minutes or longer? And how much of and increase should raise each time?

if you are overclocking for power, you need to increase the voltage, and inside msis range is plenty fine

Myself, I run Kombuster, make sure it has post processing enables. for a short time 10 min, and run 3d mark vantage,, and keep going higher, till failure, then back it down around 20Mhz, once I have what I think is final settings I run Kombuster for an hour min, then and try a few games out to fine tune that last little bit.

Heh, I don't use MSI so I wasn't sure how far it allowed you to go.  Flashing the BIOS is the only way to go if you ask me.

flashing the BIOS is the best, but you can't really mod the BIOS, flash it, test it, then make adjustments to the BIOS, re-flash it ect ect,  it would take for ever that way to find the max stable OC. Just use MSI to find the settings and then write your own BIOS, and flash it. but then some  drivers are stable with higher clocks, and some not, si then you have to re-write the BIOS again, and flash it.  lol MSI is a pretty great program for most users.
MSI afterburner will allow for crazy high voltage mods with BIOS mods and/or the unlocked version.Big%20Smile

here is the first pass, core/Shader clock linked 20 mhz with Kombustor running 10 minutes. No errors or artifacting. Note: Did NOT adjust the Memory clock yet

I would keep raising the core, find the max, back it back 20Mhz, then start on the Mem.

with some small voltage jumps you should be able to do 800Mhz on the Core no problem, just keep it cool. Big%20Smile

Why is the memory clock reading 1674MHz on afterburner, and the specs on the box and wedsites say 3348MHz

800MHz on the core?  Nice increase if most cards can handle that.

That is insane.  Maybe I can hook up that new cooling system to a 470 and see how high it can go.

There should have been a single or dual molex to PCI-E converter in the box.

Here is what I have: The only change here is I made a fan profile

To use SLI games or Kombustor have to be running in full screen, not windowed.

Got it on multi gpu. When running Kombuster, do I use any AA when running the stability test?
